Some speculate that the flamingo is a wayward traveler, lost in the midst of migration. Most likely, the bird is a fugitive that escaped from a private collection. The flamingo has a band on its leg and appears to have had its wings clipped in the past. But the bird is now able to fly. And it has landed in a salt marsh outside San Diego. It has been in the marsh for over two weeks and seems to be getting along with its neighbors. Regardless of where the flamingo came from, the people of San Diego are coming out in droves to see it, showing it that famous California love.
