I love reading about conspiracies like the Freemasons and the Illuminati, and I especially enjoy cult-based films inspired by both. Craig Goodwill's (Patch Town, Mi666) Compulsion looks like a psycho-sexual horror film that takes from Stanley Kubrick's steamy cult thriller Eyes Wide Shut and sends it to Dario Argento's hell. Described as an homage to the 1970's sexual-thriller, "Compulsion tells the story of Sadie, a budding erotic novelist, is enticed by an ex-lover to join him and an enigmatic woman named Francesca at an Italian Villa. Once there, Sadie is confronted by the demons of her past as she becomes embroiled in a surreal game of murder and betrayal." Analeigh Tipton (Crazy Stupid Love, Viral), Marta Gastini (Borgia, The Rite), Jakob Cedergren (Terribly Happy, Submarino), and Jan Bijvoet (Borgman, Embrace the Serpent) star. Bloody Disgusting has an exclusive look at the film's first official trailer to go along with new domestic and international art. The trailer is hypnotizing, erotic, and very bloody. From The Ring producer Mike Macari, with Craig Goodwill, and Neil Dunn, Ketchup Entertainment will be releasing the film here in the States on March 6, 2018, while it will open in Germany through Splendid on Feb. 23, Japan (Klockworx) on March 6, and in the UK (Kaleidoscope) on Feb. 6.
