The medical model currently is looking at segmental x-rays for pain relief. So they are looking at localized injury, such as lower back pain. The primary purpose of a segmental x-ray is to look for local pathology, whether that be a fracture, a dislocation injury or arthritis condition. A systemic x-ray’s primary focus is to look at the intact spinal column pelvic unit. So we want to look at the spine as a single synchronous functional unit. And when we do that, we see things that a localized picture doesn’t show. For someone suffering rheumatism, for instance, we see how far forward a spinal curvature is or how far backward a curvature is, how far left or how far right. All of those factors are contributing factors to a person’s overall health, and all must be considered in pain treatment. Call 562-420-8884 chiroman.com
