My dad came up with this phrase, “The sad tale of the invisible injury,” about 25 years ago. He was talking about how so many of the patients that were coming in to see him would come in with x-rays that were already taken but the x-rays were taken in a non-stress load position. So in his situation, he said if there is a seated injury or a simulated seated injury and we lay that person down or stand them up, then what we are doing is misleading the patient because we are not seeing the true extent of that injury. So "the sad tale of the invisible injury" was an injury that is missed when a doctor takes a segmental x-ray and the segmental x-rays do not reveal anything wrong, then that doctor has a hard time explaining why the person is in pain. Whereas the systemic x-ray would not be difficult at all to give clarity to that patient as to why they are suffering the way they are. Call 562-420-8884 chiroman.com
