If you've ever wondered how Roy Clarke created ''Hyacinth Bucket'' in ''Keeping Up Appearances'' you should check this out. Here Patricia Routledge gives an outstanding performance as Irene Ruddock, a snobbish single woman that complains and writes non-stop letters to people about how she thinks things should be. Her obbsession with writing letters eventually lands her in prison. You can definitely see the character Hyacinth forming in this. This is like an early rehearsal of Hyacinth. This is an Alan Bennett Talking Heads Monologue which was recorded in 1987 especially for TV. I find it amazing how she can memorise every word. She is truly the greatest actress. I also know how extremely rare this is to find in shops, so I'm more than happy to share this with the rest of the world. I think we all enjoy Patricia Routledge on our televisions which is why I wish she would return to comedy and put theatre on hold for a bit. Enjoy!
