This is a re-upload of a video I made nearly 4 years ago, which was taken down some time ago. However, while the original video was only a top 30 countdown, I decided to go with 50 songs for this updated version. The 1970s saw an end to the psychedelic rock era that defined the 1960s, due to the breakup of The Beatles and the deaths of Janlis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, and Jim Morrison. As psychedelic rock died out, hard rock began to take the spotlight in the early 1970s. Southern rock and glam rock began to grow in popularity as well. In the mid 1970s, acts like Bee Gees, Donna Summer, and Barry White shook up the music scene with disco music, which dominated the charts in the second half of the decade. Smash hit films like "Saturday Night Fever" and "Grease" further popularized the genre. This led to a backlash from rock fans, and led to the "Disco Demolition Night" in 1979. Many rock fans were angered that The Rolling Stones, Kiss, and Eagles had all become "sellouts" when they each recorded at least one disco song. By the early 1980s, the genre had disappeared from the charts. However, disco continues to make occasional comebacks. Meanwhile, country music continued to be popular, especially with acts like Willie Nelson, Lynn Anderson, Dolly Parton, and Glen Campell. It the late 1970s, new wave began to emerge, which would eventually become much more popular in the 1980s.
