VO: “Today’s episode of News Feed is brought to you by Pandora Premium, where you can search and play your favorite songs. Pandora: sounds like you. If you didn’t love Chance The Rapper before, I’m gonna give you one more chance to fall in love. Chance The Rapper not only received the Humanitarian award for his work in Chicago, but also won the award for Best New Artist against Cardi B, 21 Savage, Khalid, and Young M.A.! Of course he was excited to win an award that you can only be nominated once for, but there was something special about the 24-year old receiving the Humanitarian. One of the things that made it extra special is when BET President Debra Lee introduced the surprise video message from Michelle Obama before he came out. It’s safe to say that surprise warmed everyone’s heart. When Chance finally stepped on the stage, he explains that all of this is a bit overwhelming and he didn’t prepare a speech because he wanted to speak from the heart. For that we are thankful. Chance definitely didn’t waste anytime speaking his mind. When he began to speak about injustices in this country, the audience let out a loud applause because Chance so blatantly said out loud what so many are feeling. The best is when he spoke truth and said “I was gone tell those judges that we just need a conviction” undoubtedly referring to the fact that there are inexcusable problems with our criminal justice system and police brutality. He also says he wants to be a better father, better big cousin, and wants to get involved outside of his community and help out people all over the world. Congrats to you Chance and we can’t wait to see how you continue to change the world. It’s time for you to chime in though.
