The University of South Florida partnered with Miami based professional choir, Seraphic Fire, to develop the first ever two-week training program for aspiring singers wishing to break into the competitive and growing field of professional choral singing. The Professional Choral Institute (PCI) was held in June and focused its study on the limited released version of Johannes Brahms' Ein Deutsches Requiem. At the culmination of the program the students together with Seraphic Fire recorded a CD, "Brahms: Ein Deutsches Requiem, Op. 45," which was released in August to critical acclaim. Now, USF is proud to announce "Brahms: Ein Deutsches Requiem, Op. 45," conducted by Patrick Dupré Quigley and produced by Peter Rutenberg has been nominated for a GRAMMY for Best Choral Performance. Rutenberg has also been nominated for Producer of the Year in the classical music category partly for his work on "Brahms: Ein Deutsches Requiem, Op. 45."
