SounDome (Ice concert) Imatra, Finland. January 22nd, 2017 Arranged/ made by Finnish musicians and ice sculptors All instruments were carved out of ice and for the first time placed inside of hemispherical igloo/ ice house, that worked as a concert hall and an instrument at the same time. Among the instruments there were for example guitar, marimba, Nigerian drum instrument called Udu and Didgeridoo, which is a special kind of wind instrument used by North Australian aboriginals. In order to ensure the success of the concert they had an air source heat pump placed inside the igloo to maintain the temperature cool enough, so that the instruments or the igloo won't melt. The duration of the concert was only about 20 minutes, because the temperature will rise so quickly. SounDome ice concerts are being held on weekends at the end of January 2017 and during February 2017 as long as the temperature stays cold enough and the instruments or the igloo doesn't melt. The igloo/ ice house is rated for 25 people at a time in addition to the musicians and the tickets cost 10 EUR per person. More information: www.vuoksenkalastuspuisto.com/
