Originally, “Cuando vuelva a tu lado” ("When I Return to Your Side") by Mexican songwriter María Grever in 1934. The English lyrics were written by Stanley Adams later that same year and the title became known as "What A Diff'rence A Day Makes." In 1959, jazz vocalist Dinah Washington did this remake of what had been a big hit for the Dorsey Brothers. It reached #8 on Billboard and #4 for two weeks on Cash Box the week ending August 8, 1959. Dinah Washington won a Grammy Award in 1959 for Best Rhythm and Blues Performance with this song. It has been covered by many artists over the years and appeared on the soundtracks of many popular films.
