Buddy Knox "Party Doll"

submitted by Marvin's Underground Music Ondemand on 01/03/18 1

This classic rockabilly song "Party Doll" written by Buddy Knox and Jimmy Bowen was recorded in 1956 by Buddy Knox with the Rhythm Orchids at the recording studio of Norman Petty in Clovis, New Mexico, where Buddy Holly recorded several of his early hits. After pressing copies of the record, a DJ in Amarillo, Texas began playing "Party Doll" and it soon became a regional hit. The record was picked up by Roulette Records and was distributed nationally to become a No.1 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in March 1957 spending a week at that position. It appeared on Buddy Knox — Greatest Hits album on Roulette and can be found on CD on Buddy Knox, Jimmy Bowen and The Rhythm Orchids: The Complete Roulette Recordings.
