submitted by Marvin's Underground Music Ondemand on 01/03/18 1

No other singer is more associated with the rockabilly era than Carl Perkins and one of the first and most famous rockabilly records "Blue Suede Shoes" was written and first recorded by him on December 19, 1955. Released on January 1, 1956 on Sun Records, "Blue Suede Shoes" reached # 1 on the Billboard's country music chart. #2 on Billboard's Best Sellers popular music chart, and #3 on the rhythm & blues chart. While Elvis Presley’s cover version became more famous than the original, it only reached #20. It was included on the Dance Album of Carl Perkins on Sun Records released in 1958 and can be found on the CD, Carl Perkins, Original Sun Greatest Hits on Rhino.
