Here's one I have wanted to do for a long time, but didn't have the right footage available to dramatize it until recently. Surprise ...! Jimmy Page plays the lead guitar on this one. That guy really got around. Back in 1978 when I stopped buying oldies at garage sales and began hunting for good ones from the 50's, 60's, and early 70's in record stores, this was one of my earliest purchases. This hit had always left a big, positive impression on my mind and wistful memories of the past .. and still does. It is a classic in contradictions: an up tempo and breezy melody, yes even sprightly in places, but with lyrics about rejection, jealousy and despair from the point of view of a former lover still obsessed with his girl. Wikipedia: "Here Comes the Night" is a 1964 song, written by Bert Berns. It became a hit for Northern Irish band Them, fronted by Van Morrison, in March 1965, charting at No. 2 in the UK and No. 24 in the U.S. Them's single is listed at either No.33 or No.36 in the Top 100 best-selling UK singles during the calendar year 1965, depending on source. The song was originally released as a single in both the UK and the U.S. by another Decca Records' artiste, Lulu, in November 1964. Lulu's recording charted at No.50 in the UK, and failed to chart at all in the U.S." March 5, 1965 was the date the single was released in the U.S. and UK. On July 17, 1965, it peaked on both major U.S charts: reaching #24 on Billboard's Hot 100, it fared much better on Cash Box at #18.
