On March 19th, 2016, VOX: A Choir for Social Change met with Kate Shewan to hear about her journey to self-love as a trans woman. Throughout this sharing session, VOX was moved to tears by Kate's grace in the face of discrimination. After hearing from Kate, VOX shared a song to honour her strength and to acknowledge the struggles that come with expressing one's authentic self. VOX: A Choir for Social Change is a group of choral activists based in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Its goal is to use music to affect positive change in society. VOX is a part of the Don't BE Afraid Campaign- a not-for-profit organization that aims to eliminate homophobia and transphobia through honest conversation and creative expression.
