The Independent Policing Oversight Authority and the Kenya National Commission on Human Rights are investigating Thursday's incident, where police brutally attacked students at the University of Nairobi, injuring many and destroying property. IPOA says it condemns the violence meted on the students who were in hostels and lecture halls. Police are said to have carried out the attack using batons, guns and water canons allegedly because some students were protesting the arrest of former student leader and embakasi east mp Babu Owino.
