How To Replace Trane Central A/C Condenser Fan Motor

submitted by Ching Yang on 09/12/17 1

For this video, I show how to replace the condenser fan motor after it spins in reverse when it's not supposed to. If you watched the last video, you would know what's going on. If your A/C unit is doing the same thing, most likely your motor needs replacing. This is actually a very easy repair, as long as you're careful with electricity, and you know how to handle these things such as motors, wires, capacitors, screws'n'nuts'n'bolts, etc. And if you WATCH the video, (which you should anyway) I explain why the capacitor does not get replaced in this video, though it's probably a good idea that you do replace yours just for better measures. There IS however a kickstart hard start kit (capacitor) that you can put in your unit to lower the inrush current rate when it starts up. I'm sure there are many videos showing how to do that. Hope this helps. 0:00-1:33 Removing the top cover. 1:34-2:35 Removing the service panel. 2:36-3:33 Disconnecting the motor wires from the capacitor. 3:34-5:32 Removing the motor from the main cover. 5:33-8:16 Swapping the fan blade over to the new motor. 8:17-9:00 Removing the securing nuts off the motor. 9:01-11:52 Installing the new motor. 12:35-13:34 Reconnecting the motor wires to the capacitor. Replacing the top & service panels. (Not recorded) 13:56 Testing the A/C.
