submitted by Molly Millions on 03/08/14 1

Emil Rydberg - director, Raf Bauer - art direction, Martin Aberg - sound design, www.backonmyfeet.co.uk, www.facebook.com/backonmyfeetofficial, @BOMF_350 Raf Bauer will be walking the Cape Wrath Trail in Scotland this April in a bid to raise awareness of ovarian cancer. Described as the hardest long distance backpacking route in the UK, Raf will walk the 350km trail solo. Each kilometer walked will be dependent on the general public. Raf is encouraging people from all over the UK to post a photo message on his website, 'Back on my Feet' (backonmyfeet.co.uk and facebook.com/backonmyfeetofficial) to the women they love with the hope that they will be made aware of symptoms of the disease. For each message posted, Raf will walk a kilometer of the Trail. The 'Back on my Feet' campaign was started in memory of his mother, Irena who died from the ovarian cancer in 2011. Raf is keen to highlight that although women live with, and far too frequently die from, ovarian cancer, men are affected by the disease too when wives, daughters, sisters and mothers are diagnosed. The Cape Wrath Trail in Scotland is a non-way-marked route which covers 350km from Fort William to the Cape Wrath lighthouse on the North West tip of the Scottish mainland, is considered to be the most challenging long distance walk in the UK. This is the third time Raf has taken on a walking challenge to raise funds and awareness for ovarian cancer. In May 2012 Raf and Emil Rydberg, who also lost his mother to cancer, trekked many kilometers across the UK. Raf is hoping to raise £3, 5000 via 'Back on my Feet'. Anyone wanting to support the campaign is being asked to donate money and to post photo messages of support for women diagnosed with ovarian cancer on the website. Raf is sponsored by Castleberg Outdoors (castlebergoutdoors.co.uk/) and has the backing of writer and photographer, Chris Townshend, who has agreed to be a Patron for the walk.
