The impact of Genesis LA’s investments are experienced by a range of community members. We continue to measure these impacts and seek feedback from the community in a variety of ways, including short video interviews as part of our SPOTLIGHT SERIES. In this SPOTLIGHT SERIES, Genesis LA follows up with a resident of South LA who shops at Azalea Plaza in South Gate. Genesis LA financed Azalea Plaza in 2012-13 through our GCIF loan fund and our New Markets Tax Credit (NMTC) program. The Azalea Plaza was designed and constructed with significant public input and support, and has created hundreds of local jobs, provides much needed retail and community space, and generates over $2.5 million dollars in sale tax revenue for the City of South Gate, which supports other local services in the community.
