AIRR Tablet (Aerial Imaging by Retro-Reflection Tablet) is a system that can display information in the air and is operable with your hands just like a usual tablet. The system performs a floating transparent large tablet screen with a wide viewing angle using AIRR technology developed by Prof. Hirotsugu Yamamoto of University of Tokushima. No special glasses are required and it can be perceived from multiple viewpoints simultaneously. In addition, the system uses high-speed (500 fps) gesture recognition that is the same technology used in our Janken (Rock Paper Scissors) Robot and realizes high-speed and low latency interaction without frustration. By a combination of these technologies, users can perform fast and precise screen manipulation, such as aerial dragging, aerial multi-touch operations, aerial punching, and aerial drawing with extremely small delay. The system will contribute to make a more innovative information environment in an unrestricted manner.
