2017 Colombia Mission Trip

Medellin, Colombia is called, “The City of Eternal Spring” and when we landed we quickly discovered why. The temperature is pretty much perfect year round and an awe inspiring nature bordered by the view of the mountains surrounding the valley where the city lays, made for a pretty incredible view no matter where you were in the city. Like most first time trips we’ve led, we went with a sure plan but not really a sure way of completing it. We had contacts in Medellin and knew there was a need for the Gospel and left the States trusting God to complete a good work in the lives we were bound to affect while we were there. As always, the Lord quickly revealed to us the many details He had already begun to orchestrate before we ever set foot on this trip. Our first point of contact was Natalie from INDER. INDER oversees the operations of over 800 sports complexes including the majority of skateparks in Colombia. After presenting to her our desire to reach the skating community with the Gospel and to premiere the Purpose film at Estadio skatepark, she got real excited and shared with us that she too is Christian and had been praying for help to reach the skaters. She gave us the green light (which is normally not an easy task in and of itself) and our main Purpose film showing was set for that Saturday at the skatepark. With the event scheduled, we set out to numerous other parks each night until to pass out fliers, host some games of skate, give out prizes, and pray for people while sharing the message of hope that is found in Jesus Christ. Our second point of contact in Colombia was Gabriel, a missionary from California working at Christ for the Nations there in Medellin. Through Gabriel, we were given the open door at Christ for the Nations to present the ministry of Ride Nature to several key leaders and they were immediately on board with helping partner with the vision for impacting Colombia. We were super blessed to have their support on Saturday night at the outreach as they sent some of their students to help setup and minister alongside us. The movie night on Saturday drew a crowd of over 80 skaters, cyclists, and spectators. The Purpose film was well received and after a message from our team, we are stoked to share that ten youth surrendered their lives to the Lord for the first time! Many were prayed over and one skater at the event rededicated his life to the Lord. It was a truly fruitful night for the glory of God. One of the young guys who gave his life to Christ that night shared with us that he felt that it was that night that he found his purpose in life! We gave him a Bible and immediately he started reading it to his friend. This is what Ride Nature exists for. This was, is, and will always be the hope for this ministry....that lives will be eternally impacted through action sports outreach, evangelism, and discipleship! We thank everyone for their continued prayers and support as we complete the great commision set forth by our Lord to reach the ends of the Earth! Every trip is a further reminder to us as staff at Ride Nature that God is with us and for us and desires that every man, woman, and skater come to the saving grace of Jesus Christ. To the ENDS of the earth! - The Ride Nature Team *Written by Chris Alonso - Ride Nature Director of Bike Outreach and the leader of this trip. “Go into ALL the world and preach the Good News to EVERYONE." - Mark 16:15
