Well, the 2010 SWAIA Indian Market may be over, but the revelry is just beginning for the artists, who poured their heart and souls into their work for this year's competition and market. That includes Standing Rock Lakota Sioux Indian Charlene Holy Bear, who has been winning collectors' hearts since she was in high school with her depictions of Native American dancers in clay, cloth and beadwork. This year, Holy Bear won "Best in Class" in the Diverse Art category with a female dancer that took the artist three years to complete. Paul Niemi of unclepauliesworld.blogspot.com caught up with Holy Bear fresh off her win at the SWAIA preview party as well as at market the next day to talk with her about her work.
