The ability to just take off and fly a paramotor anywhere you want to go is absolutely incredible. Even completely broken down in the trunk of a Mazda Miata you can be in the air in less then 5 minutes with a Flat Top paramotor. Like many other hobbies people most often start out by looking around at the different gear they might want. In paramotoring that's a deadly mistake. The FIRST thing you do is look very closely at the skill levels of whom you are talking to. This is absolutely not like camping gear where a quick search can find numerous reviews listing all the specs and their benefits. In paramotoring the vast vast majority of information out there is a complete lie or totally idiotic as it's put out by those who literally don't know the first thing about the sport. So it's not about looking around for reviews as you absolutely don't want the opinion of a liar or incompetent moron. So the first thing you do is search around for the very best pilot and instructor so you know whom to ask advice to in the first place. A quick search for "world's best paramotor pilot" and you will notice every single video you find is of SUPERDELL Schanze the WPPGA paramotor world champion, US glider control champion and the guy you see setting world records all over youtube. Then you search for "world's best paramotor training" and once again every single video is of SUPERDELL and SUPER training where you can find loads of videos showing brand new students starting from never having touched a paraglider to graduating SUPER training with better then expert level skills. With a bit of looking around at skill levels it's easy to find that nobody on earth can do what SUPERDELL can do and almost no other instructors in the world can even do what his brand new students can do!! Now think about that. An instructor that is so incredible that his new students literally have skills others acting as "instructors" don't even have. If you are new to the sport you almost for sure just assume that if someone is calling themselves an instructor that they must be good and know what they are doing. Absolutely not true in this sport. Since there is absolutely no license required and because the sport is so new most out there acting as instructors just self promoted themselves to their professed expert level and literally don't know even the most basic things about the sport. To really see this clearly you have to look at skill levels of the brand new SUPER students and compare them to the others out there acting as instructors. Forget comparing to their students because you won't find any video of ANY other paragliding instructor showing their students demonstrating true and real skill levels. So you have to compare SUPER students to others professing to be "instructors". Then search "SUPER student destroys 15 year instructor" on youtube and you can watch a brand new SUPER student trained by SUPERDELL Schanze absolutely destroy a guy who has been acting as an instructor for 15 years. You will see very clearly he literally can't even remotely compete with the new SUPER student. Then search "Paramotor SUPER student destroys blackhawk" and you can watch a brand new SUPER student take off first try but then have to land to help the bogus blackhawk instructor Mike Robinson just try to launch. You can watch as this guy who has numerous "instructional and advice videos" take 6-7 tries just to get off the ground because he flat out doesn't have even the most basic skills himself!! Then the SUPER student reverse launches piece of cake first try right there in the act same conditions that the blackhawk "instructor" couldn't even forward launch in. Another bogus blackhawk instructor Michael Mixer broke his own back twice in a single year and killed 2 students in the same MONTH!! Rob at blackhawk is the guy who spends his time making up every lie he can spread around about the best pilot and instructor in the world purposely to try to scare people away from the very best and safest instructor and gear in hopes that people will be fooled into training with their instructors who literally have never had a day of proper training in their lives and don't have even the most basic skills because of it. So this is not the sport you can just ask around and trust the advice of any joe blow that wants to give you input. It's absolutely critical to LOOK at the skill level of who you are talking to and make sure you are talking to someone who without a doubt has absolutely incredible skills, competency and honesty in the sport.
