Running the Figure 8 at the Advanced Driving School run by the New Hampshire Chapter of the BMW Car Club. This is one of a number of exercises in the day long course to teach car control. Basically you run the car in a figure 8 between two circles. Purpose is to learn turning at speed along with correcting understeer and oversteer. My instructor yanked on the hand brake about three times per circuit. His job was to get me into a spin, my job was to keep the back of the car in its correct location. As you can see I had varing degrees of sucess. Coming out of the back circle the pavement was particularily slick. The instructor always tugged the hand brake when I was in that turn. The rest of the pavement was pretty good so it was generally easier to control the disruption .
