The Garden Awakening is a garden design talk with a difference. Drawing inspiration from long-forgotten Irish ways of working with land, Mary Reynolds re-imagines gardens for the times we live in. She looks at land the way a parent looks at a child. It is a gift and a responsibility. You will learn to ask what the land itself wants to become and how to encourage that intention, the talk also looks at the need for sustainable living especially growing our own food and how to do that within two requirements. With Mary's gentle approach and inspirational talk you can awaken your garden, nurturing the land to become a beautiful, truthful and magical space, with garden designs and sustainable farming that are in harmony with nature and can reverse our environmental trajectory. Mary Reynolds strives to be a good listener. By listening carefully to her client and the land in question, she undertakes the design of gardens that marry the needs and wishes of the lands guardian with the needs and wishes of the land itself. With her roots in natural gardening theory, Mary seeks to create spaces that are healing, truthful and magical. She also encourages the clients to form their own relationship with the little piece of earth they are lucky enough to call their own, their gardens.A Chelsea flower show gold medal winner, Mary has designed gardens internationally for more than 17 years, including commissions in Kew Royal botanical gardens in London as well as occasional stints of garden television presenting for RTE and BBC. Mostly she spends her time growing two very magical wild children who are the stars of Mary’s garden.A feature length movie based on Marys true life story will be released in 2016. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at ted.com/tedx
