Autism Service Dog Feature: Landon's Story

submitted by SDWR on 04/12/17 1

April is Autism Awareness Month and SDWR wants to feature the unique families that live with an Autism Spectrum diagnosis within our community. "Apollo is just under a 2 year old golden retriever. He is an amazing dog who came to us in December of 2016. Apollo seems to sense that something is up with Landon, before we can. For him, it's his best friend that never leaves him. He's a comfort for him. When Landon is upset he has him as that resource. He will ask Apollo to comfort him... Within 2-3 days of Apollo arriving we immediately saw an extra 1-2 hours of sleep for Landon a night. We haven't had a single issue of him sleepwalking since Apollo has been here."- Jenn, Landon's mom. If you are considering an Autism Service Dog for yourself or your child, please visit www.sdwr.org/service-dogs/autism/ to learn more about our program and hear families' stories.
