If I missed anyone, tell me. I determined the 'Difficulty Level' by combining two factors: how difficult I found it to get into a certain group and how difficult I'd expect it to be for someone else to get into them. For example, I've been sort of 'desensitized' to even the most left-field experimental music, but a beginner might not take Throbbing Gristle or Nurse With Wound particularly well, initially...OH FUCK I FORGOT NURSE WITH WOUND. Oh, well. Just pretend they're on there. There are certain bands I left off of this for personal convictions; I was going to put Whitehouse on here, but after reading more into their use of overt racist symbolism and the racially-driven aggression/hatred so evident during their performances, I figured it would be best to leave them off. Other artists who use Nazi/racist symbolism, be they overt or covert, I generally kept on this list because they know when to draw the line -- they may not understand that forcing Nazi symbolism on an unsuspecting audience more than once isn't really going to make them any less repulsed by it, but they don't genuinely BELIEVE this sort of thing. It may be the equivalent to complaining about things you can't change (you know...being forced into certain situations that you aren't capable of controlling or even handling) endlessly, it may be unoriginal to claim that Nazi symbolism is some type of shocking form of free expression (even now), and it may be boring and hackneyed to claim that you're opposing social norms by acting controversial, but that doesn't mean the music is bad, dammit! And sometimes making the distinction between ultra right-wing nazi irony/deadpan humor and genuine hatred can be difficult. Sometimes it's obvious (Dead Kennedys), sometimes not quite as obvious (Grey Wolves), but still. Well, enough of that. Enjoy the video.
