Minister McKenna addresses the World Meteorological Day 2017 Here at Environment and Climate Change Canada we provide an amazing weather service for Canadians from coast to coast to coast. Today is World Meteorological Day so let’s celebrate! I don’t know about you, but accurate and timely weather information is a critical part of my day. From knowing whether to bring an extra scarf, an umbrella or even packing some sunscreen – I can’t leave the house without knowing what is in store for the day ahead! That’s why I want to thank our meteorologists who are stationed across the country, and who work all year round to keep us prepared. Did you know that last year alone this team issued 1.5 million weather forecasts, over 15,000 severe weather warnings, 500,000 aviation forecasts and 200,000 marine, ice and sea-state forecasts? These people work really hard. And they will keep on working hard to ensure the safety of you and your family. Happy World MET Day everyone!
