23 Akins: Influence of Carter G. Woodson on a Student

Akins tells the story of a student who was successful in his educational pursuits, in part, because of Carter G. Woodson Academy. Roszalyn Akins is the First Lady of the First Baptist Church of Bracktown. She started the Carter G. Woodson Academy for young men and taught for 30+ years at Leestown Middle School in Lexington, KY. This interview took place on November 9, 2015 as part of the Kentucky Civil Rights Hall of Fame Oral History Project, Louie B. Nunn Center for Oral History and University of Kentucky Libraries.
