To be honest, as a Singaporean, I've never been to Haw Par Villa until today, my friend and I decided to visit that place. After all, the admission is free. I bought a new Cokin ND 8 filter and Kamerar Tank TK-2 rig a few days ago. So, I brought out my new toys and capture some footages around Haw Par Villa. It was my first time using ND filters and I was told that it was crucial to use under bright sunlight when shooting a video with at 1/50th shutter speed and a shallow depth of field. It was a hot day, therefore, the filter worked well, reducing the amount of light in my footages. However, it wasn't that bright all the time, as clouds started to cast in and my footages got darker. Therefore, I had to increase my ISO sometimes to avoid under exposed. I didn't have ND-4 filter yet so I have no choice but to stick with my ND-8. As a result, noise is quite visible in my shots which I'm pretty disappointed about. Nevertheless, it was a good practise to control exposure on a sunny day. Maybe I should invest in Tiffen's variable ND filter. I do not have a slider dolly which I wish I have one. So I use my Kamerar Tank TK-2 as a stabilizer and attempted to do a invisible slider movement with my own hands. It was not the best idea but I got to learn and practise more to stabilize my shots efficiently this time round. My color grading is still below par, from what I see but I would like to improve more in near future. Just for your information, what and where is Haw Par Villa?
