In a bid to protect consumers from products classified as harmful and also to discourage trade in such goods, the Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON) yesterday, destroyed sub-standard products worth over N700 million at its Ogun State Dump Site in Sagamu. Speaking at the event, Director-General/Chief Executive, SON, Dr Joseph Odumodu, said the sub-standard products ranged from cables, armoured cables, ball-pen biros, extension sockets, mobile phones, electric bulbs, tyres, engine oil, shaving sticks and stabilizers. He said the exercise was in line with the agency’s zero tolerance campaign against sub-standard products in the country.
