The ice core collection at the University of Alberta holds over 10,000 years of climate change evidence in 1.7 kilometres of samples. The collection, known as the Canadian Ice Core Archive, will be available for research access in winter 2017. The combination of such an extensive archive and the university's strength in northern research will be a boon to scientists across Canada and worldwide.
