Homelands is a once in a lifetime global journey of discovery for a handful of top UK artists - Shakka, Saskilla, Terri Walker and Diztortion - all explore their heritage and culture in this groundbreaking new series. Episode two of four, exclusively here at GRM, follows Nu Brand Flexxx member Saskilla to Senegal. Saskilla's biggest excitement was to explore the ‘cultural clash’ between what he has experienced being a prominent part of the UK Grime Scene and the traditions and cultures of Senegal. Saskilla meets four generations of his family, and later takes to the stage in front of 10,000 people introducing UK Grime to the nation, with a phenomenal response from the Senegalese crowd. In deeper moments he learns about the ‘door to no return’ in Goree Island, referencing the historical links his homeland country has to slavery in the USA and beyond.
