Creativity is a natural anti-depressant according to study #mentalhealth Study link; www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2016/11/161123183914.htm Do you like making jam or knitting or crocheting? Well, then if you do, you could be happier than those who don't. Today, I'm bringing you a study that shows evidence for creativity in improving your psychological and emotional functioning and reducing the risk of anxiety and depression. If you're on medications, welcome to this channel and if you want to move towards medication-free, medicated-free life, a life free of medications, always consult with your doctor first before coming off any medications. The job of my channel is to provide you the information and encouragement that there are natural and alternative ways to deal with anxiety, insomnia, and depression and very sort of psychological challenges including stress. So this study found that people who participate in arts and crafts and creative ventures feel happier, calmer and more peace the next day. The activities that the researchers listed in this study included cooking and baking, performing music, doing art and crafts, painting and creative writing. The study took place in New Zealand among 658 students, over a two week period and they were asked to keep a diary of their thoughts and emotional feelings after doing art for 13 days in a row. Dr. Tomlin Conner, the lead author of this study said that there's a growing recognition in psychological research of the emotional and psychological benefits of engaging creative activities and the creativity is associated with improved mental health and emotional functioning. These findings support the emerging emphasis on creativity for improving our mental health and well-being. The study published in the Journal of Positive Psychology showed that students in the following days after creative activities, were flourishing and more enthusiastic for their projects and for life in general. So as a creative person myself and my current endeavour being this YouTube channel making these videos, editing them, and sharing them with you is something that really boosts my own mental health and well-being. I feel great when people put a comment or like a video I make and share it because this is sharing art, sharing ideas, encouraging people to find natural solutions to mental health problems. In Ireland, we have serious mental health issues and especially young people and suicide is a big issue. As a creative person myself, I really want to encourage anybody listening, if you are struggling with your mental health, try and find something creative even a journal, write down your thoughts, express them. Start putting lyrics together. Do some scribbles, drawings, cartoons. Find a creative outlet for your energy and it's guaranteed going to increase your confidence, increase your hope and your desire to live and to express. Caution: If you taking medications consult with a medical doctor. If you want to take a course of herbs I recommend you talk to a herbalist. If you want more information contact me by email.
