trojan scooter club morecambe 1968 and beyond www.trojanrecords.com/ www.trojan-sc.co.uk/index.html twitter.com//trojan_sc The Trojan Scooter Club is one of the longest running scooter clubs in the country ,starting in 1968 it has run continuously since then and it is still alive and kicking today, getting stronger and expanding all the time with members attending most national and some international rallies. The club was formed in 1968 by agroup of scooterists all from the morecambe area who all attended the same youth club at the time. The name was taken for the club surprisingly not from the reggae record label of the time but from the TROJAN house where the old lambretta boys used to meet.It was also at this time that the clubs motto NULLI SECONDUM[second to none] was thought up and is still used today on all our t shirts, patches etc. Throughout the seventies the club grew and became very large covering the whole lune valley area with members joining from as far away as kendal and that area. In those days the club attended all the big NORTHERN runs of the day,to the likes of scarborough as well as local rides out with clubs like the PRESTON WILDCATS,which would lead to the inevitable clashes with bikers so common in those days.. As the 70s came to an end the club started attending the new national rallies of the day ,still with a large membership with a new generation building up the club alongside the old.But in the mid 80s the club began to dwindle with the members going their ways, some lads who had previously been in the NORTH WEST INVADERS S.C decided to kickstart the club wth afew of the remaining old boys and to get the club back on line , from here the club began to grow again with members from morecambe and lancaster but also from places further afield like milnthorpe, kendal, whitehaven, chorley, sedbergh and other surrounding areas, the club was back on form and attending most national and regional rallies of the mid/late 80s and early 90s. The backbone of club is still these lads who got the club going again in the mid 80s,many of them being in the club for over twenty years or more, still attending events all over the place and of course plenty of new blood has also joined in that time some staying with the club some moving on. In 1987 we held our first club do and these expanded throughout the late 80s/early 90s to very large events with scooterists coming from far and wide and gaining a reputation which would keep packing them in,but as everything during the early 90s the numbers began to dwindle and our enthusiasm for the events began to wane. Around the mid 90s again the club began to deteriorate in some ways with no regular meeting although the club was still going but unorganised,so it was decided to get the club back on track and hence a regular meeting place was found, the Smugglers Den pub in morecambe, again the club picked up again with new members, the old guard who had run the club since the80s and some old faces coming back to the club. ( Meetings are generally the first Sunday of the month but during the summer months this is usually overtaken by a rally / ride out and club event ) . The club is now very strong with a good keen membership attending plenty of events, hopefully continuing for a very long time... 2008 will see the 40th Anniversary and hnce a club event in the area and hopefully get back to an annual theme .
