Achimgaz is a joint venture between Wintershall and Gazprom, between Russians and Germans. Under extreme conditions in Siberia 15 million cubic meters of natural gas a day are produced here. The production of natural gas is of great importance for the region - Novy Urengoy is regarded as center for natural gas in Russia. AO Achimgaz was founded in 2003 as a 50:50 joint venture between Gazprom and Wintershall. The companies produce natural gas and condensate from the Achimov horizon in Block IA of the Siberian Urengoy reserve. The field is situated about 3,500 kilometers north-east of Moscow.
