So let me put it like this, I am part polish, part Russian, part Romanian, part Turkish, Part Egyptian, part Iraqi and part Indian. I was born in Canada, my dad lives in Curacao and I live in Israel. So besides Australia and Antarctica, I pretty much have all the continents covered here. No matter where you live on this planet, there is some history there, If you know what I mean... some from long ago, and some much more recent. Heck my personal history is tied directly to major events like the British Colonization and the Second World War! 1923 My great grandpa, an Indian living in colonized India, joined the British army and traveled with them to Iraq, a place they also ruled at the time. There he met my great grandma, fell in love with her, and decided to leave his life in India behind and start a family with her. 1942 A young boy in the heart of world war two, my Grandpa, after losing his family in the holocaust was able to escape and to join the partisan resistance movement to fight the Nazis in the soviet forests and that’s how he ended up surviving the war. Now, I love and appreciate all the different places I come from, my family sure went through a lot for me to be here! but when I look at the bigger picture, I don’t see borders, I don’t see good guys or bad guys, I see a lot of crazy stories that are being told in a billion different ways, most of them creating hate and fear between us and overlooking one major common thing that we all share: THIS LIFE. History might have created some complicated situations, we all feel it these days no matter where we live, and because of my family’s history I live in one of the most complicated ones on the planet. But the thing is I don't define myself by my ethnicity or by the place I live in. If I had to choose one definition for myself, it would be "Earthling". I am simply like every other living being on this planet, male or female, black or white, human or non-human, we are all the same. Healing is a process, and on a global scale it might take generations. But I believe that I am here to help wake people up to the fact that we are in this together, and that by realizing this fact we can truly start to change the world. And I can’t think of a better place to start this change, than here, where it is needed most.
