How to play Static Music - Composing Tutorial

submitted by SteveNossiter on 01/02/17 1

Featuring the Star Wars "The Force Theme" by the maestro John Williams. A tutorial on how to compose STATIC music. Static Music is music that takes you nowhere but holds you locked into a certain situation or emotion and is widely used as a tool in screen composing. In this tutorial, I show you an easy way to compose Static music using the concept of a drone/pedal note on Piano played both high and low. I also show the difference between high static music, low static music and dynamic music and how that makes us feel as an observer. The music I play in this tutorial is a custom version of "Star Wars" 'The Force Theme' by John Williams. It's not the same notes as the original, by any means, and there's a couple of little mistakes because I play it live as I'm recording the tutorial. Please leave a comment if you have any experiences or additional information you can add. We're all eager to learn new stuff so go wild. Steve. In this tutorial I use: - Pro Tools 12 HD - Quantum Leap Piano's www.soundsonline.com/Pianos - (I am not affiliated with Soundsonline in any way. I just love their instruments.)
