Liesel Filgueiras is an expert on human rights, community engagement and development. She works as the General manager of Corporate Volunteer Program at Vale Foundation, in Brazil. Often the revenues of mining companies go directly to the federal government, leaving the local communities with very little benefit of the industry in the long term. This has caused social and political conflicts between local communities, governments and companies in a number of cases around the world.
