Harpo rialto colors - EVOLUTION tutorial

Rialto evolution is a colored stucco for interiors, with a glazed spatula effect. This product differs from the competitors of its category for easiness of use and for the rate of execution. Thanks to its formulation, very intense and covering tones can be achieved without requiring application of additional coats for dark colors. Rialto evolution has a structure which is scarcely affected by the ageing, It is however good practice to check that there are no superficial drying in the can. A mechanical shaking before the application can facilitate the homogenization and thus the spreading of the product. To apply the first layer of undercoat, we will use the stainless-steel trowel, it should be sharp with rounded corners. On a suitably treated prepared wall, we distribute in a homogeneous way the product avoiding the use of excess of material. Its acrylic nature, will make the second undercoat's application possible already after 4-6 hours. Using a stainless-steel trowel on the second coat, we will create a homogenous and smooth surface. Before this step, any imperfection can easily be removed by sanding with sand paper grade 220. After the complete drying, we can start the finishing process. This procedure will decide the final aspect of our decoration. We can proceed either with the stainless-steel trowel or continue with spatula. Using the spatula the texture will result more elegant and refined, it is ideal for small places; while, on large spaces, the trowel greatly reduces turnaround time. Here we show the most typical application using the 10 centimeters spatula. The tool should be sharp with rounded corners to avoid scratching the wall during the application. We continue our work by applying and removing with smooth movements and looking to change up constantly the angle of the color's trace. In this way we will create a texture uniformly distributed over the whole wall. Every 6/8 spatula strokes we polish the surface, without too much pressure. The composition of this acrylic stucco, avoid the risk of micro-cracks due to the base's imperfections or inadequate base's thickness. Brightness and opacity may been chosen based on the costumer's taste. A light spatula polishing will bring out the opaque nature of the product animating the colors, while a stronger polishing, always by a stainless-steel spatula, will make the wall lighter and glossy.
