A tutorial on Basic MIDI Editing in Pro Tools 12: Things you'll learn in this tutorial: 1 - How to set up the grid 2 - How to change your clip view for editing 3 - How to snap to grid 4 - How to adjust note pitch and velocity 5 - Ticks and samples - How tempo changes automatically move your midi performance according to the grid changes. MIDI (Musical Instrument Digital Interface) is how we get our instrument to talk to a computer and make sounds, hopefully, musical ones. I've been using MIDI for many years and it's caused a lot of pain and also got me out of trouble Millions of times. It's brilliant. But It's taken me ages to learn a lot about it and how to manipulate MIDI performances to create very accurate performances while at the same time maintaining a high level of humanity in the performance. In this tutorial I'll take you through some of the more basic things I do very regularly as I compose and some not so regularly. I'm hoping this could help you get out of the woods sometimes with your own composing. Please leave a comment if you have any experiences or additional information you can add. We're all eager to learn new stuff so go wild. Steve. In this tutorial I use: - Pro Tools 12 HD - Quantum Leap Piano's www.soundsonline.com/Pianos
