Mahdieh Rezaie is a 16-year-old Afghani immigrant, whose female-headed family overcame discrimination and personal tragedy to build a new life for themselves in Toronto. She now volunteers for Lifeline Syria, an organization that seeks to help transition Syrian refugees to their new environments.
