5 Cone Zone Block Footwork Drill

submitted by Fourthquarter on 12/19/16 1

This is a footwork drill for zone blocking technique. Place the cones in the shape of an M. Base 3 spaced out roughly 2 yards apart, diagonal cones spaced out roughly 1-3 yards (depending on age; 13+ ages = 1 - 2 yards, -13 ages = 2 - 3 yards). The cones are visual references to work different angles for the athlete. Ensure the athlete has a flat back during movement at all times. The athlete should have a wide base while pounding their feet and moving them as quick as possible. The arms are tight and ready to fire. **Add to the drill with bag at the end of angle taken to engage in block.
