On the 12th October 2016 I went to the Black Box in Belfast to attend 'Songs for Chris returns', a great night of music featuring local musicians Anthony Toner, Brendan Murphy, Matt McGinn, Stevie Scullion (Malojian), and John McCullough (piano). The charity event was put on to raise money for The Christopher McCollum Fund. Christopher had Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy and passed away in 2001, aged 16. His parents Gerry and Geraldine set up the charity in 2008 which raises funds for wheelchairs and other equipment for young disabled people, as well as the MDUK Duchenne Research Breakthrough Fund. Last year the event ‘30 Songs for Chris’ marked Christopher’s 30th year, and so ‘Songs for Chris returns’ was a special way to mark his 15th anniversary. The event raised £1,256 for The Christopher McCollum Fund.
