A glimpse into the monastic life at Gethsemani Abbey in Trappist, Kentucky, taken while on retreat with Michael O'Connell, accompanied by the chanting and singing of the monks there. The spirit of Thomas Merton seemed present, the 27-year resident at Gethsemani and lover of life who was on a toot, on a roll, who tipped Sikh taxi drivers like a Proustian millionaire, and who inspired a generation of progressive Spiritual thinkers.
