Deborah Willis is a curator, writer, artist and educator who is one of the nation’s leading historians of African American photography and culture. Willis is chair of the Department of Photography and Imaging at Tisch School for the Arts, New York University, and is a recipient of fellowships from the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation and the John Simon Guggenheim Foundation, among other awards and honors. Her talk is part of the i3: Images, Ideas, Inspiration lecture series, which features presentations by digital photographers, hardware and software developers and industry experts.
