GIVE BLACK and Subscribe to the BRIJ Awareness Portal ~ Consider becoming a stakeholder by contributing just .33 per day. ALL contributions to BRIJ are redirected back into Black initiatives. www.brijfund.org This week we go inside the home of Patric McCoy, President/Co-Founder of Diasporal Rhythms, an organization of contemporary Black art collectors. The collective has been in existence for over 10 years and has 65 or so collectors who own the work of at least 7 artist. They're unique in that they collect pieces of living artist from across the African Diaspora, preserving the visual stories of modern history. The art is enjoyed by the Chicago community and tourist as part of their House Tours which invites visitors into the homes of collectors for an intimate evening with Black Art. Learn more about the art of collecting and why becoming an active participant is a critical part of preserving culture.
