Brian McGinness was a teacher in Vermont with job security and benefits. But his dream was elsewhere - he wanted to be a farmer. He thought about starting a CSA (Community-Supported Agriculture) but Vermont was already saturated. His wife, Angie, born in Bismarck, ND, hinted that there were no CSAs and no organic food to speak of in her hometown area. Brian listened to her, and to an old farmer friend who advised him to follow his heart and not his fears. He left his job and both he and his wife moved to Mandan, ND and ventured along the risky path of becoming small independent farmers. Brian & Angie chose the hard way too, favoring horses over machines. Today in their fifth year, their Riverbound Farm CSA has exploded, with over 200 members who happily support the couple’s dream while enjoying their delicious, natural food.
