SXSW Interview: Mark Mothersbaugh | SXSW Music 2016

submitted by sxswdemo on 11/03/16 1

Mark Mothersbaugh joins curator Adam Lerner about the artist's extraordinary career in both music and visual art from the decals he made before he co-founded DEVO through his recent music-making machines. Coinciding with his traveling retrospective exhibition, currently at the Contemporary Austin, this conversation will provide an overview to the artist's enormous body of work in virtually every medium. Though many people know Mothersbaugh as the frontman for DEVO, a composer for Wes Anderson films, or even as a printmaker, this conversation will draw out the connecting threads that run through his diverse artistic practice. SXSW’s original goal was to create an event that would act as a tool for creative people and the companies they work with to develop their careers, to bring together people from a wide area to meet and share ideas. That continues to be the goal today whether it is music, film or interactive technologies.
