This wild caught female Monarch (Danaus plexippus) laid over 120 eggs on tropical milkweed (Asclepias curassavica) in a simple laundry bag ovipositing enclosure on one hot summer day (80+ degrees Fahrenheit). It took several days of flying before it finally decided to lay, as is often the case with females that have not yet laid before in their lives. It was very thirsty after the job, sucking for 20 minutes straight without prompting!
