Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) and the next generation | Alex Cui | TEDxYouth@UTS

With Massive Open Online Courses, the big question still remains: How far will MOOCs go in augmenting traditional university teaching? Will it revolutionize the way students learn? To be continued in The Next Chapter… lex Cui is a grade 10 student at UTS with a passion to question. As a digital native, he likes to think about the potential of the emerging technologies that are disrupting our social lives, education, and careers. He’s working on the gamification of global issues education with the Actout, an organisation he co-founded. Now, he’s questioning the idea that Massive Open Online Courses will revolutionize the way students experience higher education. By dislodging university courses from the lecture hall to the laptop, they promise to democratize education for anybody with an internet connection. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at ted.com/tedx
